Why Tinkerbell?
I forget what the initial inspiration to do this costume at the exact moment that I did it was, but I've always found the classic Tinkerbell to be just absolutely adorable in a really impish way. She's not quite evil, but nor is she an innocent character, and readily sasses many people despite her inability to talk to most people. Tink is just always a popularly recognized and timeless character also which means adults and kids alike both love seeing her, and it's always fun to portray such an iconic persona for all ages!
I plan to entirely remake this costume in the future!

About This Costume
I made this cosplay pretty early on in my time sewing, so it was one of the first using proper draping and patterning techniques, and first time making wings. Despite my newly acquired skills, I still was new to a lot of it and made a few errors, but none that were fatally flawed, just stuff to be corrected next time I attempted any similar projects!
The dress was draped on my dress form that was really more decorative than it was functional. The dress mostly worked, but could've been fitted slightly better to me by spreading the princess seams further apart and shaping them better at the bust. It is an olive green caviar bead organza layered over a bright chartreuse crepe satin to give it a "glowing" effect!
The wings were made of wire and covered in white organza. I cant even remember how I ultimately did this as I know it was a major struggle for me to do this step. In the end, I did not create my wing anchor properly, and it resulted in loose, floppy wings that would frequently spin to the side, get off-center, and droop in awkward ways.
The shoes were the only thing I kept from the original costume! The were bought on eBay, and were already a great color. I just added some glitter to them to match my dress a little better, and used scraps of organza from the wings to create her little poms. I absolutely love the shoes, it's probably my favorite part of the whole look!
Why Tinkerbell?
During the short time that I was a Disney Movie Club member, I racked up some pretty massive points through Disney Movie Rewards, and was able to use them to cash in on a really adorable Jim Shore statue of Tinkerbell in a Santa-themed dress! Although it is not the only one I drew inspiration from, it was my main source of motivation for the idea. I drew concepts from a few of her Christmas holiday looks to create mine! I could still stand to get more photos of this look...

About This Costume
I made this using a similar pattern to my original Tinkerbell dress, but made the needed modifications to it to make it fit a little better! The wings were also updated with a smaller frame to make them more travel-friendly, though I would like to replace the mesh (it's actually a light blue, hard to tell in the lighting in these photos) with a white metallic mesh to give it an even more magical feel, and apply rhinestones all over it!
The hat was also patterned by me, and the "fur" trim on it and the dress and cuffs are actually just fluffy feather boas, haha. The shoes were bought online and I glued poms to them, but in retrospect, I came up with a much smarter idea that I ended up using for my Jessica Rabbit holiday look, and that was to glue toothless alligator clips to the poms that I can slide onto the shoes, so I can reuse them for something else. Because I tell ya hwat, having some red flats for characters like Sailor Mars would've been so helpful! I eventually just had to go and buy another pair of nearly identical red flats, pahaha.
